1970s Hair Cuts

I thought you might find this interesting: these are scans I took from one of my favorite books, Bronwen Meredith's 1977 "Vogue Body and Beauty Book", and these are four pages with suggestions for hair cuts. The first page features short hair cuts:

"SHORT

The most modern hair cuts are usually short; the best are those that allow you to take care of your own hair at home. A perfect hair cut is very important: shape is everything and even short hair can appear to have a lot of volume if it's well cut and well combed. Curly hair and weak hair usually look better cut short. It's easier to change hair styles when your hair length is short, and that's one of its biggest pluses."

"MEDIUM

Usually this is the most flattering hair length, but the look and duration of the 'mise' depend wholly on the hair cut's style, which must adapt itself to the individual's hair type. Hair this length tends to revert to its natural waves and one must not fight that; it's inadvisable to change your hair do very often. Cut and brush your hair taking into consideration its texture and structure. This length works best for wavy hair and strong hair, but it's also the highest maintenance."

"LONG HAIR

Long hair is often easiest to keep well groomed and enables a great variety of styles. The secret lies in knowing how to take care of it: one should brush hair by sections, pinning the rest with springs or rubber bands and using the free locks to wrap around the head and get interesting effects. One can achieve striking effects with hair of all types; straight hair is the easiest to comb, but one can also make hair dos stuck to the head with curly hair. Most hair dos you see in these drawings can be made with medium sized hair and extensions."
